Cruising is one of my favorite ways to travel, it’s the ultimate relaxing vacation. And I know it can be hard to know what to pack for a cruise (especially your first one) but I promise it’s not as intimidating as you might think. To ease some stress, I’ve put together a list of what to pack for a cruise to the Bahamas.
Before we get into the list – the biggest thing to keep in mind is COMFORT.
Everything I pack for a cruise is based off of comfort and cozy vibes. I also recommend basing your outfits on the excursions you have planned at each port. For a cruise to the Bahamas, we chose relaxing beach days so that’s what my outfits are geared toward.
I highly recommend shopping your closet first, I often find clothes or outfits I don’t usually wear that work perfect for the trip. But if you’re looking for something fun and new I’ve linked the items that I would get for a cruise to the Bahamas.

Tops
- Tube top – This is my fave forever and will always recommend packing for any vacation. They can be styled up or down, worn to the beach or to dinner and dancing at the club. Perfect for every occasion.
- Oversized tee – After being in the sun all day, throwing on an oversized tee feels amazing. It’s great for a cover up at the beach or wandering around the ship.
- Comfy tanks – Just like the tube top it can be styled up or down. Great to throw on with some sweat shorts after a long day in your suit.
- Long sleeve – Cruise ships can be cold, even in warmer destinations, so packing a long sleeve or two can come in handy. I love wearing them to dinner or walking the ship to watch sunset.
- Sweater – Great to throw on over everything. Throw it on if it get’s chilly on the beach or at night on the ship.
- Sweatshirt – Again, it gets cold and sometimes all you want is to throw on a sweatshirt, so this is a must.

Bottoms
- Denim shorts – A classic, no explanation needed. Perfect for the beach or days at sea.
- Sweat shorts – Same with an oversized tee, I love throwing on sweat shorts after being in a swimsuit all day. Perfect for wandering the ship and just hanging out.
- Sweater shorts – A more elevated version of sweat shorts. I would wear them as a beach cover up or dress them up for dinner or dancing.
- Linen pants – Great to throw on to go to the beach or to dress up for dinner or a show. So comfy and so cute.
- Mini skirt – I love packing a mini skirt for dinner or for dancing. Basically for anytime I want to dress up a little.
- Sweats – We are all about comfort remember, sometimes all you want on a cruise is a sweatshirt and sweats.

Dresses
- Little black dress – There is usually a formal night on the ship so I like to pack a cute dress. I would stick with something classic but it’s really about whatever makes you feel good.
- Red dress – A fun dress is also great for dancing or dinner. I love this strapless dress in a pop of red.

Swimsuits
I love swimsuits and live in them on a cruise so I recommend packing quite a few.
- White bikini – Neutral and chic, would look amazing on the white sand beaches of the Bahamas.
- Orange bikini – Such a fun pop of color.
- Blue bikini – Another bright colored suit to match the fun vibrant island vibes.
- Black bikini – A classic that always looks good and goes with everything.

Accessories
- Tote bag – For the Bahamas specifically I would pack a tote bag for beach days. If you’re planning a more adventurous excursion, I would recommend something more secure, like a backpack.
- Hat – I didn’t bring a hat on my cruise and wish I had, it’s nice to have something to keep the sun off your face.
- Claw clip – With the wind, salt water, and pools having claw clips are essential. They make it so easy to throw your hair up and still look cute and put together. Great at the beach or for getting ready for dinner.
- Sunglasses
- Sarong – I’ve never been one to really wear a sarong but I brought one on the cruise and it was LIFE CHANGING. It was so easy to throw on, it was cute, and SO COMFY. I was amazed haha highly recommend for days at sea or the beach.

Essentials
These are my ESSENTIALS, to keep myself healthy on the ship. Lots of dramamine, lots of water, lots of pepto – just in case.

Happy Sailing!
