the best boutique hotel in madrid: the petit palace chueca

If you’re looking for the coolest places to stay in Madrid I couldn’t recommend the Petit Palace Chueca enough. It’s cute, quant, and in the perfect location!

This hotel is perfect for solo travelers, families or big groups. And has the cutest cafe and coffee shop in the lobby. Below I’ve listed a few of the reasons it stood out to me the most based mostly on location, food, and aesthetics.

location

One of the reasons this is one of the coolest places to stay in Madrid, is it’s Location! It’s nestled right off of the famous Gran Via street in downtown Madrid and makes for a perfect home base to explore many different neighborhoods in Madrid.

Things I like about the location:

  • It’s an easy and beautiful 20 min walk along Gran Via to Retiro Park
  • 7 min walk to Puerta del Sol – one of the best known public squares in Madrid
  • 12 min walk to Chocolateria San Gines – one of the oldest chocolateria’s in Madrid – with AMAZING churro’s con chocolate. It’s open 24 hours and a must see when visiting Madrid. If you don’t get the churro’s they have ice cream and truffles as well. They are the cutest little cafes and a fun experience to do alone or with a group.
  • Close to lots of dining and shopping
  • And less than a minute from the Gran Via subway station

food

Food is everything on vacation and being so close to so many option made this spot one of the coolest places to stay in Madrid. We found places to eat right down the street from the hotel. Our favorites were TKO Tacos and Udon but there are so many more to choose from.

TKO Tacos had tacos for only 1 euro that were amazing! Very chill vibes and good food, what more could we have asked for after a long day of sight seeing.

Udon had a calm and modern vibe with the most amazing chicken yaki soba, would definitely recommend.

breakfast

The breakfast offered at the Petit Palace Chueca was unreal. Fresh fruit, pastry’s, yogurt, and more. It’s an additional cost but worth it if you’re wanting something quick, easy, and delicious. We had a lot of early mornings on our trip and they were able to pack us to go bags for the day. If you’re not wanting to pay for the additional cost, they also have a great cafe in the lobby if you’d rather go that route!

aesthetics

This is quite a small hotel but the design and aesthetics make it feel luxurious and comfortable. Like I’ve mentioned before the main lobby has a little cafe and the basement has the breakfast. The design in the basement is modern and cute making it feel like you’re at a nice restaurant or cafe.

The rooms are also very cute and minimal, our room had multiple large windows that opened to the street with great views of the building next door and the street Gran Via.

Overall, I loved my stay at the Petit Palace Chueca. It was cute, had great views, and was any easy commute to anywhere in the city. It’s definitely one of the coolest places to stay in Madrid and I’ll be coming back. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s a great option for solo travelers, families or large groups.
