Cruises are one of my favorite ways to travel. I know that some people find cruises intimidating and might not know what to pack. So I put together a list of my cruise essentials when it comes to skincare, hair and beauty.

Makeup
- SPF Moisturizer – The most essential for me on any vacation but especially on a cruise. An SPF moisturizer is my most used product! There is nothing worse than getting sunburnt on day one of your cruise so make sure to sunscreen up.
- Tinted Moisturizer – Another great option if I want a little bit more makeup coverage than just a moisturizer. I end up using both or just the moisturizer so it’s good to pack both. I usually use this when getting ready for dinner.
- Bronzer – I don’t wear a ton of makeup on a cruise but when I do, I just want to be simple and glowy so a bronzer is perfect.
- Blush – This blush is SO good. Not super pigmented but really glowy, which as I mentioned, I love for cruises. It’s small and compact and easy to apply. Definitely recommend bringing blush.
- Mascara – Another beauty essential for a cruise. Mostly for getting dressed up for dinner at night. During the day I would keep my makeup pretty minimal and natural.
- Eyebrow gel – This is an essential for me always so I definitely recommend bringing it on a cruise. If I don’t wear any other makeup adding brow gel can still help me feel complete and put together.
Hair
- Shampoo and Conditioner – They have shampoo and conditioner in the rooms but I always like bringing my own. You’ll be in and out of the ocean and swimming pool, plus out in the sun and wind all day. It’s nice to have products that you love on your hair at the end of the day.
- Leave in Conditioner – Another must have for cruises. My hair gets crazy on cruises, frizzy, wind blown, tangled. Having a leave in conditioner that you love that really save your hair after a long beach day.
(For Wavy/Curly Hair)
- Curl Cream – My hair gets especially wavy in humidity and tropical places so I like bring a cream that will enhance my curls and maintain the frizz.
- Sea Salt Spray – Another great option for enhancing curls and beachy look. I LOVE adding a texture spray or sea salt spray to my hair when I’m on a cruise.
- Hair Oil – This cruise essential saves my hair. Having my hair constantly in chlorine and the ocean can dry it out, especially the ends. This oil from sexy hair smells amazing and feels so hydrating!
- Gel/Cream – Sometimes the wind and frizz and hair down gets old so if you like a slick back look this styling cream is a great option.
- Hairspray – This is an essential for me to control the frizz and keep any hair style I want to try last longer.
- Claw Clip – The wind on a cruise is crazy so I always like to have a claw clip handy so that I can keep my hair out of my face.
- Seamless Hair Ties – Great for keeping hair out of your face and pulling your hair up if you’re spending the day by the pool or snorkeling in the ocean.
Skincare
- Body Lotion – Nothing feels better than taking a shower at the end of a busy cruise day and rubbing after sun lotion on your skin that has been in the sun all day. This is my favorite one, it smells amazing and makes my skin feel so good!
- Sunscreen – If you don’t bring anything else make sure you bring this. Sunscreen is the most important cruise essential. Like I mentioned, nothing worse than getting sunburnt on your first day. Or realizing that you forgot to pack it and have to go purchase one on the ship for double the price.
- Aloe – Just in case, hopefully, you won’t need to use this. It’s better to be safe than sorry. If you do happen to get sunburnt having aloe vera is essential.
- Face Cleanser – This just feels great at the end of a long day. Great to wash off all the makeup and bacteria from the day. I love a gentle facial cleanser especially since your skin might be more sensitive since being in the sun all day.
- Face Moisturizer – Keeping the skin moisturized on a cruise is essential. This is a great option for a cruise.
- Chapstick – We’re all about staying hydrated on a cruise and that includes the lips. I love the tube of carmex instead of the chapstick because no matter how hot it gets it’s still usable. The chapstick could melt if left out in the sun. I would take this pack and leave the chapstick in the room and bring the tube with me through out the day.
- Body Wash – Smelling good after a long day of sweating and adventuring is essential. Make sure to pack your favorite body wash. This one from Salt and Stone smells amazing.
This most important thing to remember is sunscreen and hydration for the skin. Cruises are incredible and there are resources and options if you do forget any of these essentials. The staff is always super helpful and accommodating if you have any questions. There’s options to buy things on the cruise and also at some of the ports as well if needed. Bringing the cruise essentials mentioned above will ease your worries and add to your cruise experience.
