Nothing sounds better to me than New York City in the fall. Nothing. The weather starts cooling down, the leaves start to change, the FASHION inspo gets crazy. I don’t know how to explain the feeling I get when I’m in nyc in the fall. It’s cheesy but I feel like anything is possible, it feels romantic and like a movie. If you’re considering a trip to nyc, do it, especially in the fall.
I know it can be overwhelming figuring out the best things to do when traveling, especially if you’ve never been to the city. So I put together a list of some of my favorite things to do when I visit. There are so many amazing things to do when you’re there so don’t be afraid to try new things or experiences that you maybe wouldn’t. Doing less touristy things can make you fall even more in love with the city.
What to do:
- Eat an H&H bagel on the Met steps
- Walk through Central Park
- Picnic in Sheep Meadow
- Get drinks at the Empire Hotel Rooftop Bar – a must see if you’re a Gossip Girl fan
- Visit the Top of the Rock – you can purchase tickets in advance or the day of. I’ve only ever purchased them that day.
- Grab Bagels at Tompkins Square Bagels and go to the Books of Wonder bookstore
- Go dancing in the Lower East Side – specifically on/around Ludlow St. I really enjoyed Kind Regards but there are so many options around there.
- Explore the neighborhood of Dumbo
- Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge

New York City in the fall really is perfect. I hope this gave you some ideas of where to go and what to do to make your next trip to New York memorable. Remember to try out some less touristy places or if you have a favorite movie or tv show try to find some of the filming locations. I’m a huge Gossip Girl fan so I love planning my trip with Gossip Girl in mind. Most of all, just have fun and enjoy everything New York City has to offer in the fall.
